Promoting the game of golf in the Taxi Industry.
The Australian Taxi Golf Association was formed in Victoria at the Swan Hill Golf Club at the Council Meeting on 21st March 1977.
States represented at this meeting were New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria with ten (10) Delegates representing these States. I am aware of the original Delegates that Keith Hazell (made a life member in 1999) of New South Wales is still an active member of Taxi Golf with Des Gibbs (Life Member 1992) of South Australia now deceased and Ken McLean (Life Member 1992) of Victoria also now deceased.
I have included below the original Minutes of this meeting for those who are interested in the history. What surprised me that all of the Delegates did not actually play in the Championships from information gathered in my possession.
Unfortunately the Council Meeting Minutes from the years 1978 to 1985 and 1987-1988, I have not been able to track down and hopefully somebody out there might be able to supply me so we can retain for our records.
From 1989 through to 2016 we now have all of these important Council Minutes and have placed them onto computers with backup plus kept hard copies for our day to day information. Now adding into the internet world this will live on forever. This will now allow us to pass on to our future administrators for safe keeping.
Many changes have taken place over the years to move with the times and to understand the massive changes taking place in the Taxi Industry. We are like all golfing clubs, social groups and Industry clubs getting older and must keep evolving if we are to keep this great Championship and comradeship moving into the future.
I would like to thank Michael Reimer, Thomas Parsons and Gordon Wilson of New Zealand and Peter Branigan, Russell Armstrong and Michael Baungarten of Australia for their kind assistance in my research
Kind regards
Chris Johnson
